Art Glass Designs
ART GLASS AND OUR BUSINESS
Art glass can be used in a variety of applications. Also, in many
cases, our designs can be installed over existing windows, and most of the work
is done in our studio, so there is little installation time, minimizing
disruption to your home or business. Take a look at our etched and stained
glass design pages for examples.
 | Etched Glass |
 | Etched glass is created through a process of applying a design to glass or
mirror and using an abrasive under high pressure to "etch" the
design into the glass. The etching process can be done on almost any
type of glass: tempered, laminated, mirrored, plate, or art
glass. |
 | There are several techniques to etching glass, ranging from surface
etching, which is two dimensional, to carved glass, which provides a three
dimensional look. Some common applications for etching include interior and
exterior doors, cabinet doors, shower doors, room dividers, and mirrors. |
 | Stained Glass |
 | Traditionally, stained glass was used to decorate windows in churches and
elegant Victorian homes. Now there are many more applications and we
are using not only colored glass, but various textures of clear glass.
For instance, many of our customers are looking for an entrance door or
sidelights which will distort the view but still provide light into the
foyer. Utilizing different textures of clear art glass, we can create
a beautiful design which will accomplish both goals. The same design
concepts can be used in bathrooms and other areas where privacy and light
are primary requirements. |
 | Take a class |
 | We offer a beginning stained glass class in our studio. Classes
are small, allowing a lot of individual attention. Presently
classes are not being conducted - call for information regarding future
classes.
